Ben’s our boy!
Fri 6 Jan 2017
Television actor Ben Aldridge will star in Run The Beast Down, the third production to be Made By The Marlowe.
Ben, who was in the cult hit Fleabag, Our Girl and Larkrise To Candleford, will be joined by on-stage DJ and Sound Designer, Chris Bartholomew, who will feature the music of Canterbury DJs, ANoR.
Run The Beast Down is playwright Titas Halder’s debut full-length production and opens at The Marlowe Studio before transferring to London. It has been developed under Roar!, The Marlowe’s new writing project. It will be directed by award-winning Hannah Price, founder of Theatre Uncut and director of several critically-acclaimed plays, and produced by The Marlowe and Libby Brodie Productions.
An exhilarating theatrical journey performed with a live electronic score, Run The Beast Down is a boundary-pushing hybrid piece of theatre and music, combining elements of storytelling, dark comedy and magical realism with a pulsing soundtrack.
Charlie has stopped sleeping. His neighbour’s cat has been dismembered. And worse, he’s being haunted by an urban fox. In a haze of neon-soaked insomnia lines blur between reality and fantasy. What are they up to? Whatever it is, it’s big. The mystery twists its way towards a dead rabbit, a city in flames and a Kendall mint cake-fuelled murderous showdown.
Ben Aldridge trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the National Youth Theatre.
Theatre appearances include American Psycho (Almeida Theatre), The Lyons (Menier Chocolate Factory), Romeo And Juliet (Shakespeare’s Globe), Antigone At Hell’s Mouth (Soho Theatre) and Fish And Company (Soho Theatre). On television he has been in The Devil’s Whore, Compulsion, Lewis, Heavenly, Pramface, The Selection, Vera, The Cricklewood Greats, The Bible, Toast, First Light, Reign, Stan Lee’s Lucky Man, Detour, Larkrise To Candleford, Our Girl, and Fleabag. His films include The Railway Man, In The Night, Titan, and Amre.
Chris Bartholomew is a sound designer and composer based in South London. After graduating from Guildhall's Electronic Music Studios in 2013, Chris has created sound and music for various productions by Theatre Ad Infinitum (Light - Edinburgh Fringe, London International Mime Festival, China; Bucket List - Edinburgh Fringe, Battersea Arts Centre, UK Tour), Deafinately Theatre (Grounded - Park Theatre) and Idle Motion (Shooting With Light, Voyager - New Diorama, UK Tours), as well as many other companies. As a composer Chris's work is defined by his blend of the acoustic and electronic. He has been commissioned to write for stage, screen, orchestra and helipad - most notably as lead composer for Mozart Remixed - a long running collaboration between the London Mozart Players and Croydon Council, culminating in a performance of two remixed symphonies performed in St Thomas's Cathedral for the Portsmouth Festivities. Chris's DJing experience has lead to sets in Egg, Pacha London, Koko and around the UK.
