Mamma Mia! is on its way
Mon 6 Jun 2016
We are excited to announce that Mamma Mia! is coming to Canterbury. Tickets for the worldwide smash-hit musical, which is at The Marlowe Theatre in July 2017, go on sale to Marlowe Friends tomorrow (Tuesday) and the general public on Tuesday 28 June.
Mamma Mia! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise. To date, it has been seen by more than 60 million people in 50 productions in 16 different languages. Mamma Mia! The Movie is the highest worldwide grossing live-action musical film of all time.
From West End to global phenomenon, the London production of Mamma Mia! has now been seen by more than 10 per cent of the entire UK population. It is one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End, and in 2011, it became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China.
With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. Creator and Producer Judy Craymer said: "We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Mamma Mia! to Canterbury for the first time with the UK Tour. Mamma Mia! is fun for all the family with its heart-warming story and the irresistible songs of ABBA. We can't wait to share the fun with Canterbury!"
Casting is to be announced.
Mamma Mia! runs from Tuesday 11 to Saturday 29 July 2017. Tickets are priced from £29 to £59.50 (concessions available; booking fee applies). The show will be captioned (2.30pm, Saturday 15 July), British Sign Language–interpreted (7.30pm, Thursday 20 July), and audio described (2.30pm, Saturday 22 July).
